Kang Dong-Soo (SPINDEX: 2788) and Kotomi Omoda (2622) of the Portland Paddlers have won Male and Female Players of the Week for Week 3, Major League Table Tennis announced on Tuesday.
This is the second time this season that both winners came from the same team, after Mohamed Shouman (2697) and Chen Sun (2561) of the Carolina Gold Rush took home these honors for Week 2.
Kang won eight of the nine games he played this season, with the sole outlier being a one-point loss to Chicago’s Robert Gardos (2699). He shifted the tone for Portland on Friday with his sweep of Los Angeles’ Alexandre Robinot (2693), and gave his team a strong start on Sunday after beating Carolina’s Wei Wang (2683) in the first three games of the match.
The Paddlers drafted Kang with their second-round pick in the 2025 MLTT Draft. Kang now becomes the fourth rookie to win Player of the Week this season, joining Shouman, Chen and Florida’s Peiyu Zhu (2597).
Omoda faced three superstars in Los Angeles’ Matilda Ekholm (2525), Mo Zhang (2608) and Chen. She only lost two of the 11 singles games she played this weekend, a performance that made her the highest-rated woman on SPINDEX.
The Paddlers will play again from Oct. 24-26 in Bensenville, Ill. and will face the Princeton Revolution, New York Slice and hometown Chicago Wind. All of these matches will be streamed exclusively on Table Tennis TV.
