Jörg Bitzigeio’s name is synonymous with excellence in international table tennis. From representing Germany as a professional player to coaching U.S. standout Kanak Jha for the past six years, his impact on the sport spans continents and generations.
At just 28, Bitzigeio made history as the youngest National and Olympic Team Head Coach, leading the German Women’s Team for seven years. Under his leadership, they captured bronze at the 2010 World Team Championships—their first medal at the event since 1997. He later transitioned to Youth Head Coach, where he helped German athletes capture European titles across adult, junior, and cadet levels.
In 2017, he took on a new challenge as USA Table Tennis’ High Performance Director. His leadership brought unprecedented results: three U.S. players reached the Top 30 in the world rankings, the men’s team won gold at the 2019 Pan Am Games, and the U.S. claimed a bronze at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games—both historic firsts for American men.
With a master’s degree in sports science and business, Bitzigeio is widely respected as one of the top directors and coaches in Europe and the Americas. He was named USATT National Coach of the Year in both 2017 and 2018.
